Consumer research* undertaken by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) earlier this year has revealed the extent to which people delay seeking professional help for their back and neck pain. The research showed that a third of British people wait a month or more before seeking professional help with their back or neck pain.
Our Ealing chiropractor confirms that many patients that seek his help at the Spine & Joint Centre in Ealing have been suffering back or neck pain for many weeks, if not months, before coming to the clinic.
What may be somewhat more surprising is that the research reveals that women suffer longer than men before seeking help with their back or neck pain. In fact they take twice as long as men, with women taking on average six weeks and men taking on average three weeks.
At our chiropractic clinic in Ealing we are committed to treating the cause of your pain not just the symptoms
With 4 out 5 people suffering low back pain at some point of their lives, chiropractic treatment along with staying active may well be the best solution. Chiropractic, unlike painkillers, treats the cause of the pain rather than just the pain itself.
Whilst chiropractic treatment can offer a safe and effective form of treatment for back pain our chiropractor is keen to stress that prevention is better than cure. Simple lifestyle changes can lead to significant differences in the health of your spine.
Moving more, sitting less and regularly stretching can all help improve the health of your spine.
Poor posture may lead to back pain. Our chiropractor at the Spine & Joint Centre can advise you on sitting positions and may also advise you to make changes if you:
- Spend many hours a day sitting at a desk, computer or in front of the TV
- Sleep in a bed that is too hard or soft
- Drive long distances in in car, van or lorry
Other common activities that can result in back pain include lifting, driving, bending, twisting.
If you are suffering back pain then our chiropractor is here to help you. Call us on 020 112 5408 to book an appointment today.
